This open call exhibition features work by artists who employ traditional art forms to explore themes deeply rooted in community, tradition, and our daily lived experience. The artist’s reception on Saturday September 5, 4-6p is free and open to all.

This exhibition includes a wide variety of mediums including painting, textile, sculpture, ceramics, assemblage, and mixed-media installation. The participating artists include: Paul Adamo, Normandy Alden, Amanda Cheung, Nancy C Connolly, Anne DeSimone, Elizabeth Dimon, Denise Giardullo, Anne Gohorel, Annie Hayes, Scott Keidong, Kaitlyn Lanza, Joanne Lentner, Renee Lewis Stanley, Jon McCormack, Mary McFerran, Janell O’Rourke, Donna Maria Ramirez, David Schaengold, Anne Smith, Barbara A Smith, Chris Vollor, Siyan Wong

Continuing the exploration of folk art, the creative learning programming at Headwaters Arts Center this fall includes Welcome Blanket Quilting with Megan Avery for the Welcome Blanket project; Spoon Carving with Michael McCarthy; and the return of Rug Hooking with Annie Hayes. These workshops are an excellent opportunity for community members to engage creatively with folk art, helping these art forms continue to thrive.

Whether skills are self-taught or shared from hand to hand, folk art is what we make with the materials we have that serves a creative function, expression, or even whim. The artworks in this exhibition exemplify the creativity inherent in the human experience and remind us that art is for everybody.

Our exhibition programs are generously supported by the Margaretville Telephone Company. All programs offered by the Roxbury Arts Group are supported by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the NYS Legislature, the A. Lindsay and Olive B. O’Connor Foundation, the Robinson Broadhurst Foundation, The Community Foundation for South Central New York, the Tianaderrah Foundation, an anonymous foundation, The Delaware National Bank of Delhi, and by the generosity of our business sponsors and individual supporters.

Join us for the artist reception for Everybody’s Art, an open call exhibition featuring folk art from contemporary artists that exemplifies the creativity inherent in the human experience. Meet the artists, enjoy the art, and experience the truth that art is for everybody.
