Developed in collaboration between Headwaters Arts Center and the Stamford Wellness Center, this unique support group provides a space for women to slow down, create, and connect to themselves and others in a supportive environment.

Designed for women experiencing anxiety, each meeting will start with a simple creative activity that will help participants relax and center themselves. Through prompts and discussion, we will make space for curiosity, resilience, mindfulness, and community.

While we use art as a way to process experience, this is not an art class. In this therapeutic group, art making helps us create the conditions necessary for healing and personal growth. We will support each other in each step towards greater self-awareness, recognizing that each attempt is meaningful regardless of outcome.

Carrie Sutton, MHC-LP, is a Navy veteran, volunteer EMT, and person-centered therapist dedicated to supporting individuals through a holistic approach to wellness. She believes in the power of addressing the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—and in the vital role that community plays in shaping an individual’s sense of worth and self-image. Carrie’s diverse background, including her military service and experience in emergency medical response, gives her a unique perspective on the challenges people face. She is committed to fostering resilience, healing, and personal growth through compassionate, community-centered care.

Kristin Stevenson is an artist and teacher who enjoys working with folks to find creative ways to express their experience. As program director of Headwaters Arts Center, Kristin develops arts education and exhibition programming to support adults and children in all stages of their creative development. When she’s not at Headwaters she can be found painting with cold wax, teaching art classes, or tending to her bees.

All programs offered by the Roxbury Arts Group are supported by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the NYS Legislature, the A. Lindsay and Olive B. O’Connor Foundation, the Robinson Broadhurst Foundation, The Community Foundation for South Central New York, the Tianaderrah Foundation, an anonymous foundation, The Delaware National Bank of Delhi, and by the generosity of our business sponsors and individual supporters.
