Andes Community Day Fundraiser at the Andes Hotel
The recently formed Andes Community Alliance held a fundraiser for Andes Community Day during Burger Night at the Andes Hotel. Reflecting on the evening, Andes Hotel owner Derek Curl said, “It was a magical night of everyone gathering in support of our favorite day of the year. We had over 50 generous donations.” Andes Community Day sign artist Nancy Kulikowski donated sketches and various renditions of the Andes Community Day signage seen throughout Main Street.
The auction included a weekend with a baby goat donated by Dirty Girl Farm. Andes Community Day lead organizer Cindy Wright said the adorable goat was the most bid on item in the silent auction.
“Such a festive night with Lali and the Pops band, a shaved ice truck, sparklers for the kids, and the best burgers around,” Curl said happily, reflecting on the tremendous turnout.
Following the previous week’s modern dance performances at the Leo Koenig Gallery, the annual square dance at the Firemen’s Pavilion, opening receptions at Hawk + Hive and the Corner Gallery, and events at the Hunting Tavern Museum, there always seems to be something happening in Andes. Curl added, “Summer in Andes is the best and every weekend there is something special happening that brings us all together to celebrate our growing hamlet.” Mark your calendars for Andes Community Day on Saturday, August 1.
