Margaretville celebrated one of the region’s most distinctive agricultural traditions Saturday as the 22nd annual Cauliflower Festival filled Margaretville Village Park with local food, music, vendors and reminders of the crop once known as the Catskills’ “white gold.”
Cauliflower was more than a festival namesake. El Sazón Cósmico embraced the theme with cauliflower tinga tacos and traditional-style cauliflower cakes, while Union Grove Distillery brought the local crop to the cocktail refreshments with cauliflower-inspired drinks. Fresh locally grown cauliflower was also available as families explored the festival grounds.
Music continued throughout the afternoon, with performers including Sue’s Garage, Lali & the Pops, Mike Herman and John Potocnik.
Mountain Eagle reporter Iris Mead covered the festival and its agricultural history in greater depth. Pick up this week’s Mountain Eagle for her complete story.
