The Roxbury Arts Group is bringing Fiddlers! Festival Weekend back for a 33rd year.

After a morning of old time music and dance workshops with Cathy Fink, Marcy Marxer, Becky Hill, Rachel Eddy, and Em Hammond, the fun continues on Saturday, October 10, 2026, with three free community events open to all: musicians, dancers, music lovers, neighbors, and friends. Tap your feet and soak in the sound of old time music played the way it’s meant to be: together! All three events will be held at the Jay Gould Memorial Church Carriage House in Roxbury and are free of charge, more information at roxburyartsgroup.org.

1:00pm – 2:00pm — Flatfooting Workshop with Becky Hill, Roxbury Arts Center

1:00–2:30pm — Open Jam with Catskills Old Time
Fiddles, guitars, banjos, ukuleles, and mandolins are all welcome at this free, open music jam in the traditional old time string band style. Monica-Lisa Mills and Becca Wintle will demonstrate how jam sessions work and lead a selection of simple tunes, starting slowly so you can pick up tunes by ear. All skill levels are encouraged to join, if you can play an A, C, D, and G chord, you’ll be fine!

1:00–3:00pm — Potluck Dinner
Bring a dish to share and enjoy a communal meal with fellow musicians, dancers, and community members. This informal gathering is a great chance to connect, share memories of Fiddlers past, and refuel ahead of the evening’s square dance. All are welcome. For those who’d rather relax and take in the atmosphere from the side, the Carriage House also offers a living room area to unwind.

3:00–5:00pm — Community Square Dance
Dancers of all experience levels are invited to this community square dance, led by “social conductors” Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer and their Old Time Coalition, with calling by Rachel Eddy. Whether you’ve square danced for years or never tried it before, the caller will walk you through every step. No partner or experience necessary! Bring yourself, comfortable shoes, and a willingness to move.

The festivities continue Sunday, October 11, from 3:00–6:00pm with the 33rd Annual Fiddlers! Festival, featuring Catskills Old Time Stringband, Laura Cortese, and Cathy & Marcy’s Old Time Coalition. More information on the full weekend schedule, including workshop registration, is available at roxburyartsgroup.org.
