Located in the northeastern Catskills, the Catskill Center’s Platte Clove Preserve is comprised of 208 acres with beautiful waterfalls and trails at the head of the rugged and scenic Platte Clove in the Town of Hunter, Greene County.

In 2016 I was an artist-in-residence at the Little Red Cabin which sits at the Platte Cove Falls. Every day during the residency i would hike up the nature preserve. At the right of the trail sits teh”Devils Kitchen”  an abandon blue stone quarry where hikers and artists have fasioned tables and chairs from the slabs of bluestone.  Hiking south along the ridge you will find yourself looking over the Hudson River valley until you will eventually come upon the Overlook Firetower and the remains of the Overlook Mountain Lodge.

To the West and north of Devil’s Kitchen is Devil’s Path a 26 mile rugged hiking trail that rises 14,000 ft along the 26 miles and joins up with Hunter Mountain and its fire tower
