Love Is the Revolution: Woodstock Pride Celebration Brings Community Together

by Robert Brune

Following Sunday’s Pride parade through the streets of Woodstock, participants and spectators gathered at The Colony’s outdoor garden venue to continue a day of celebration, reflection, and community connection during the town’s annual Pride festivities.

This year’s theme, “Love is the Revolution,” echoed throughout the afternoon as attendees filled the colorful venue space decorated with balloons, banners, and rainbow-themed displays. The event served as the culmination of a weekend dedicated to celebrating diversity, inclusion, and support for the LGBTQIA+ community.

With temperatures slightly warmer than previous days but still comfortable, the weather provided an ideal backdrop for an afternoon of live music, speakers, and socializing. Families, friends, and visitors from across the region mingled throughout the garden while enjoying performances and taking part in the festivities.

The atmosphere remained upbeat and welcoming as community members gathered to celebrate Pride Month and the progress that has been made toward equality while recognizing the importance of continuing advocacy and support. Many attendees arrived directly from the parade, carrying flags and signs that reflected the day’s message of acceptance and visibility.

Music played a central role in the celebration, with performers helping to keep energy high throughout the afternoon. Guests relaxed on the lawn, danced near the stage, and connected with friends old and new in a setting that reflected Woodstock’s longstanding tradition of creativity and community engagement.

Local organizations and community members also used the event as an opportunity to share resources, build connections, and foster dialogue. The gathering highlighted the collaborative efforts of volunteers, organizers, performers, and supporters who helped make the weekend’s events possible.

For many in attendance, the celebration represented more than a festive gathering. It was a chance to affirm the value of creating welcoming spaces where people can express themselves openly and feel supported by their community.

As the afternoon continued and the music carried through the garden, the event reflected the spirit behind this year’s theme. The message of love, acceptance, and unity resonated throughout the venue as attendees celebrated together in a space dedicated to inclusion and mutual respect.

By day’s end, Woodstock Pride once again demonstrated the power of community gathering, bringing people together through music, conversation, and shared purpose while concluding a successful weekend of Pride Month events in the Hudson Valley and the Catskills.
